83. Overthinking Overhaul

In this episode, we talk about the difference between processing and overthinking, why our brains can get stuck in these loops, and some strategies that have helped us step out of them.

☑️ What to Expect:

  • Processing vs. overthinking: When is thinking helpful, and when are we just replaying the same story?

  • Why we do it: Our brains are wired to notice threats, and sometimes worry can feel like we're doing something productive.

  • Overthinking at school and home: The conversations, decisions and “what ifs” that can follow us long after the school day ends.

  • Rumination: Recognizing when a thought has become a loop instead of something we’re actually working through.

  • Practical strategies: Writing it down, giving yourself a time limit, asking what you can actually do, talking to people who don't overthink and zooming out.

  • A different question: Instead of What could go wrong? try asking What could go right?

💧Well Wishes: Not every thought needs an answer. Sometimes, the kindest thing we can do is let the thought go and make room for what’s next.
