63. Becoming Through Doing

In this episode, we’re talking about how we become new versions of ourselves through everyday action, especially in teaching. We reflect on the words we said we wanted to live by a year ago, and ask the real questions: Did we actually become more of who we said we would be? And if not, what small steps can we take to get there now?

☑️ What to Expect:

Wishing vs. Doing: We all know how easy it is to say what we want, “I want to be more organized,” “I wish I were more confident,” but it’s the doing that makes it real. We look back at the words we’ve chosen to live by and ask ourselves, “Have we actually shown up and lived those out, or just liked the idea of being that person?” Becoming takes time, and that’s completely okay.

Becoming in the Classroom: We share stories from teachers who jumped into new areas, like learning music from scratch or stepping into Phys. Ed., and how showing up and figuring it out led to real growth. This is all about the shift from thinking, “I can’t do this,” to realizing, “We’re doing it, even if we’re still figuring it out.”

We’re Not Bad at It — We’re Becoming: When we catch ourselves saying, “I’m not organized,” or “I’m terrible with tech,” it’s a reminder that we’re not bad at it, we’re just in the process of becoming. Every attempt, even imperfect, builds our skills and confidence. The small steps add up more than we think.

Mistakes = Progress: We explore how mistakes are actually fuel for growth. The messy moments in teaching and life often teach us the most and help us figure out what really works.

💧Well Wishes: You don’t have to wait for a new year, a new term, or a big moment. You are becoming  right now  through every small, intentional act. Let’s keep doing the work!
